Welcome to the 45th Humormeister's Forum edition
August 16th is 'Joke day!' Share a joke on that day with family, co-workers, or friends and have some fun!
My friend Allen Klein has a new book out titled 'Learning to laugh when you feel like crying.'
Allen points out that it is possible to find and sustain joy and laughter even when you lose a loved one.
You will find his book informative and heartwarming, as it will show you how to move from grief to joy.
I highly recommend Allen's book to anybody currently grieving, grief counselors, or as a gift to grieving relatives or friends.
Allen's book is available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Allen's website http://www.allenklein.com/learn_laugh.htm, as well as many other book outlets.

The 1 Minute Laugh
Husband says, "When I get mad at you, you never fight back. How do you control your anger?"
Wife says,"I clean toilets......."
Husband says, How does that help?
Wife says, "I use your toothbrush."
Humor from our richest 'Humor Resource'......our kids
After the church service one Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, "Mom, I've decided to become a Minister when I grow up." "That's okay with us," his mom replied, but what made you decide that?"
"Well," the boy said, " I have to go to church anyway, and I figure it would be more fun to stand and yell, than to sit and listen."
Feature of the month
Why we need humor in the workplace
Humor is a good way to start the day, no matter whether at work or at home. It keeps you healthy and helps in dealing with daily stresses.
Humor in the workplace facilitates better communication and relationships. A light atmosphere is more conducive to setting a more motivational and productive work environment, resulting in happier people and enhanced morale.
Humor is not being silly, but business dialogue laced with humor gets the message across easier and helps to establish trust and credibility much faster.
Along with people skills, it enhances employer-employee relationships,if humor is used in communication.
Some of the airlines have really capitalized on the positive effects of humor. Airlines like Southwest in the USA, Virgin Airlines in the UK, and Westjet in Canada.Humor has created a better atmosphere for employees and customers, and has also greatly benefited the bottom line of these companies.
If the workplace is interesting and fun, the productive benefits flow up, down and outwards to customers.
The ways that humor can be used to get these positive results are endless and are only limited by the creative thinking of the people and management in the workplace.
Hard data is now available from such places as the 'Great place to work' Institute, illustrating that the top 100 organizations in the country have more than 80% of their employees who say they have fun at work.
This data should be a wake-up call for all organizations that humor/fun at work does not detract , but adds to the happiness, morale, productivity, and customer loyalty, satisfaction and profitability of organizations who embrace the humor/fun concept.
